Beyond the classroom Mulberry Changemakers programmes

Amazing

mulberry-girls Our schools don’t just focus on outstanding academic achievement but also on personal, social and emotional development, and the support children need to prepare for post-school life. We aim to enable all of them to aspire and to excel as young people making a positive contribution to their school, community, workplace and society – now and throughout their lives.

Whatever their background or circumstances, and wherever they study with us, all our students enjoy extensive extra-curricular enrichment opportunities and trailblazing partnerships that challenge and inspire, helping build the confidence and skills they need to succeed and thrive.

Beyond our own classrooms, schools and communities, we are also supporting the evolution of the education system to serve all children, whatever their circumstances, offering insight and leadership in our work with partners and policy professionals, putting education at the heart of change and the forefront of national life.

Our Mulberry Changemakers programmes

The Mulberry Schools Trust places the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion at the heart of all its work, and our innovative Mulberry Changemakers programmes reflect our aspirations for greater inclusivity not only in education but beyond the classroom, across society and the economy. They are designed to help remove barriers to access, participation, progression, attainment and achievement, particularly in the cultural and creative sector and STEM-related industries, where the kinds of disadvantage and diversity that distinguish the communities we serve are so conspicuously under-represented in the workplace.

Mulberry Arts is our extensive Trust-wide arts provision spanning theatre, dance, music, film, conferences and training for employment in the creative industries. A wide range of sector-leading partners contribute to programmes that help students build confidence and explore their identity, while developing transferable skills in public speaking and performance. Although embedded within school life, we also celebrate and elevate the arts beyond our communities by participating in high profile projects like the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Mulberry Production Arts Academy is our partnership with the National Theatre and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, offering training in the field of production and technical arts, providing a specialist pipeline for students with career aspirations in the sector. Mulberry STEM Academy is a supplementary school running after-school, on Saturdays and holidays for students aged 7–18, with an alumni programme, and is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd. It offers supplementary learning in technology, maths, engineering, physical science and design, and aims to improve diversity, equity and inclusion in this industry by providing a pathway for talented students from local schools and a pipeline into careers in STEM-related industries. Global Girl Leading is our leadership development programme for girls aged 11–18, to empower them with the knowledge, skills, experience and capacity to deal constructively with gender inequality and discrimination wherever and whenever they encounter it. Developed ‘by girls, for girls’ it provides rich educational opportunities that connect girls across the world, bringing them together as a sisterhood, advocating for each other. Mulberry Scholars Academy is our prestigious university preparation programme to support high-achieving students on their path to leading universities around the globe. Its comprehensive, tailored approach combines academic excellence with personal guidance, ensuring that students are fully equipped to meet the distinctive demands of top-tier higher education institutions. Mulberry Schools Foundation is the charitable arm of the Trust, raising funds to create equity, access and enrichment opportunities for children and young people facing disadvantage, strengthening their capacity to make a difference in their world. Reconnect London is a research and development centre, co-founded during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown by the Mulberry Schools Trust and Dunraven Educational Trust. It is a schools-led organisation building its own knowledge base about disadvantage, community and education – the Knowledge and Innovation hub – and drawing on the collective insight, expertise and innovative work of its members to improve the life chances of all students.
