Mulberry Schools Trust Hosts 8th Annual Education Lecture at the Royal Society of Arts

On Wednesday 11 December, the Mulberry Schools Trust hosted its 8th Annual Education Lecture at the Royal Society of Arts, welcoming more than 170 students, Trustees, Governors and friends of Mulberry.

The evening featured a keynote address from Matthew Barzun, Chair and Publisher of Tortoise Media and former US Ambassador to the UK. He spoke powerfully about diplomacy, leadership and the role of digital journalism in shaping society, with a particular focus on engaging young people in public life.

The lecture was followed by an inspiring panel discussion with Zulum Elumogo, Managing Director at TC & Friends and Trustee of the Fair Education Alliance and Barbican Centre; Sotez Chowdhury, Director of Activism and Education at Amnesty International; and Khadija Drir, student at Mulberry School for Girls and Deputy Young Mayor of Tower Hamlets. Their reflections on youth leadership resonated strongly with the audience.

The event was confidently compered by Mulberry Academy Woodside students Timothy and Mawada, who played a key role in the evening’s success.

Mulberry Schools Trust celebrates student destinations in Going Places 2025

The Mulberry Schools Trust is proud to publish Going Places 2025, celebrating the exceptional achievements of our Sixth Form students as they progress to the next stage of their journeys.

This year, students from Mulberry Academy Shoreditch, Mulberry School for Girls, Mulberry Stepney Green Maths, Computing and Science College and Mulberry UTC have secured places at top universities across the UK – including Oxford, Imperial and UCL – as well as specialist institutions in the arts, sciences and engineering. For the first time in the Trust’s history, one of our students will also be studying at Harvard University in the USA, a remarkable milestone for our community.

Others are beginning prestigious apprenticeships with global companies, gaining opportunities to combine study with professional training. Some have entered employment in sectors where their talents, skills and commitment will make an immediate difference.

The Trust warmly congratulates the Class of 2025 and thanks all staff for their support in helping students achieve these impressive outcomes. Going Places 2025 showcases the extraordinary breadth of destinations and courses across our schools – a testament to the high aspirations that define the Mulberry community.

UNESCO and the Mulberry Schools Trust: Dr Vanessa Ogden reflects on leadership and the impact of Global Girl Leading

Dr Vanessa Ogden CBE, CEO of the Mulberry Schools Trust, has shared her reflections on school leadership in a special blog for UNESCO which was published on 6 March 2025. This global project invites education leaders from around the world to share their experiences with a week-long diary. Dr Ogden’s entry focuses on the Trust’s flagship conference, Global Girl Leading, held in October 2024, which brought together young women and leaders to share insight and experience, inspire change and empower girls worldwide.

Dr Ogden’s candid reflections explore her own distinctive perspective on the challenges and opportunities of leadership in education, and how the conference celebrated and amplified the voices of young women, showcasing the persistently transformative power of education.

We’re looking forward to watching how these endeavours contribute to ongoing dialogue on global education and leadership, as UNESCO officially publishes the blogs of education leaders globally over the next 12 months.
