May 15, 2026 | News

Students and staff across the Mulberry Schools Trust came together on Friday 8 May 2026 to celebrate the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough through a Trust-wide day of environmental learning, creativity and action.

Schools across the Trust marked the occasion with a wide range of activities inspired by Sir David’s extraordinary contribution to environmental awareness and conservation. From biodiversity projects and eco-campaigns to performances, artwork, documentary screenings and outdoor learning, students explored the importance of protecting the natural world and reflected on how they can help shape a more sustainable future.

The celebration formed part of a Trust-wide initiative encouraging schools to explore environmental responsibility in ways that reflected their own communities, curriculum areas and student voice. Activities included sustainability workshops, nature-inspired creative writing, wildlife artwork, climate change debates, litter reduction campaigns, environmental assemblies and student-led projects focused on biodiversity and conservation.

Students also created messages, artwork and video contributions inspired by Sir David Attenborough’s legacy, celebrating the power of education, creativity and collective action in protecting the planet for future generations.

As part of the celebration, schools across the Trust took part in a friendly challenge for the David Attenborough Day CEO Prize, awarded by CEO Alice Ward to the schools demonstrating the greatest engagement and impact through their activities.

Congratulations to Mulberry Canon BarnettMulberry Academy Bexhill and Mulberry Academy London Dock, who were selected as the winners and will receive a special trip to London Zoo.
