Unleashing the Joy of Reading: Highlights from Our World Book Day 2025 Quiz

In honour of World Book Day 2025, our school library organized a lively book quiz that captivated students and sparked dynamic discussions about their favourite books and characters during tutor time. The atmosphere was electric as students eagerly showcased their literary knowledge, engaging in friendly competition and sharing insights about the stories they love. This event not only highlighted the joy of reading but also emphasized its power to connect us across diverse genres and themes.

As students participated, many expressed how the discussions ignited their enthusiasm for literature, underscoring the importance of cultivating a love for reading in our educational environment. World Book Day celebrates not only books but also the diverse voices that enrich our lives, reminding us that the benefits of reading extend beyond academics to foster empathy and creativity. The success of our book quiz reinforces the idea that promoting literacy should be an ongoing effort.

We aim to continue this momentum throughout the school year, encouraging students to explore a wide array of literary worlds and embrace the transformative power of stories. Let’s celebrate the magic of books every day and inspire future generations of readers!

Baroness Barran Visit

On Monday 15th May, the Mulberry Schools Trust and Mulberry Stepney Green Maths, Computing and Science College proudly welcomed the Department for Education’s Baroness Barran, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Minister for the School System and Student Finance.

The school was the fourth to join the Mulberry Schools Trust and Baroness Barran spent the day meeting with the school’s leadership team, visiting classrooms and learning about the school’s journey since joining the Trust. We were delighted to showcase some of our great work.

The day included introductions to the Trust’s incredible Mulberry STEM Academy, where Baroness Barran had the opportunity to meet with our young people and hear about their remarkable, life-changing journeys on this innovative STEM programme. This was followed by a presentation on the ambitious post-16 offer of the school, and a plenary which concluded the visit.

Throughout the day, Baroness Barran was inspired by the impressive student voice and student leadership she saw in practice from the young people from Mulberry Stepney Green. The experience was a success and left the school feeling empowered and motivated as they continue their invaluable work in service of the local community.
